CBD

CBD

After tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), cannabidiol (CBD) is the second-most abundant cannabinoid in the cannabis plant. CBD holds non-intoxicating properties unlike THC which produces the “high” effect. CBD has a plethora of potential therapeutic benefits, which includes anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti- anxiety, and seizure-suppressant properties. CBD can be sourced and extracted from both marijuana plants and hemp plants. Hemp plants are legal in many countries around the world for they have only minute amounts of THC. CBD was not readily available prior to 2009 when a discovery of a handful of strains that were rich in CBD and low in THCpopped up which lead to a rush of CBD cultivars springing up all over the USA. CBD was further made popular in 2013 when CBD was featured on CNN documentary “weed.” In the documentary, Charlotte’s web (cannabis strain high in CBD) was used to treat a young girl by the name of Charlotte Figi whom was suffering from epileptic seizures brought on by Dravet syndrome.
