Betting on tennis: game and rules
Before moving on to the details on how to bet on tennis, we want to give you some information about the game. In this way it will be easier for you to understand the type of odds proposed by the various bookmakers.
A match sees 2 players (or 2 pairs) opposed. The purpose is to make the ball touch once on the ground in the opponent's court so that the opponent then can not respond . The point is also awarded when the rival fails to pass the ball over the net and when the opponent fails to take the bat (ACE).
A tennis match is divided into sets (in canadian we could translate it with matches) and depending on the tournament you are playing, you can get to the best of 3 or 5 matches. Each set consists of 6 or more games (playground). If you are on the score of 6-6 you dispute an extra game, the tie break , to declare the victory for 6-7 of one of the two players.
The score of each game goes into Series: “0”, “15”, “30”, “40”, “victory” which corresponds to a succession of 4 Points Earned. If you reach the result of 40-40, the first player who makes 2 consecutive points wins. In tie break , the score follows the classic numbering (1, 2, 3...) and wins the game the one who first gets to 7 points with a gap of two from the opponent (example: 7-5, 8-6...).
As you can understand then there is awarded a game and a set always with a difference of 2 points compared to the other player in the field.

To bet on tennis it is right to know what are the great tournaments that take place during the year. These are managed by the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) and the International Tennis Federation (CAF) and are: Davis Cup, Fed Cup, the Olympic tennis tournament and the 4 Grand Slams. Let's see them in detail.

- Olympic Tournament : as the name itself says, it is the tennis tournament that takes place on the occasion of the Olympics. They are then played every 4 years and 64 tennis players take part in singles and 32 pairs in doubles.

Tips on how to play and bet on tennis
Now that you've learned the basics of the sport, it's time to go into detail on how to bet on tennis. For those who are used to playing football, know that there are some similarities but also differences in odds. We will therefore try to explain how tennis betting is structured and what factors to take into account before filling out your bet slip.
Tennis betting schedule
These are the different odds you can find on the major bookmakers to bet on tennis:
- winning match : it is the easiest play and it is a question of predicting the winner of the match
- exact result yes / NO : as for football, also in this case, it is a question of how the game will end according to the result reported (0-2, 2-1, 1-2...)
- exact first set result: it's about guessing the exact result of the first set in regards to the games
- under / over : varies according to the total number of games played. For example, if you play over 21.5, it means that to win, at least 22 games must be played
- handicap set : you bet on the victory of an athlete by attributing an initial handicap (a disadvantage), which is usually expressed in fewer games
- winning first set / winning match : is a combo expressed in a single share. It's about guessing whether the player who wins the first set will be the one who wins the match as well
- tournament winner : you will have to bet on who will be the final winner of the tournament
- Grand Slam yes / NO : it is an antematch bet held only by some bookmakers. You will have to bet on the tennis player who you think will win or not, all 4 Grand Slam tournaments. If the athlete withdraws, the bet will be lost.
As with other disciplines, you can make your bets on tennis both antematch and live . Clearly, only some of those proposals above you can place in the course of the game.
Betting on tennis also means controlling the odds. Those between 1.01 and 1.20 are considered safe, that is, you have a high chance of winning. Those up to 1.50 are affordable, the higher ones are very risky. Our advice is therefore to play a card with a few races but listed between 1,30 and 2,00. The alea is greater but it will also correspond to a higher collection.
Tips: the factors to take into account before betting on tennis
As we anticipated in the previous paragraph, betting on tennis requires a little more in-depth study. To help you, we've compiled a number of tips on factors to consider before placing a bet:
- tennis player form moment: unlike other sports, tennis is an individual discipline. The state of form is therefore an essential prerogative on which attention must be paid. You will not only have to rely on the placement in the ATP ranking, but you will have to consider how he played the last tournaments. Athletes who return after an injury or who play after having already participated in many races, will certainly have a lower performance
- playing surface : as is known in tennis there are different playing surfaces: Concrete, Grass, red clay. Some athletes do better by playing on certain fields, which is why it is a factor not to be underestimated
- precedents of the same match : Nadal-Federer, Murray..great athletes have already come face to face at least once, for this one must consider the precedents. Who beat whom, how many games were played, which of the two tennis players is benefited by the type of tournament. Analyze these elements before betting on the individual.
